Paul's family and friends
have pulled together to raise funds needed to send him to Portugal, where he
underwent a spinal cord autograft surgery. This surgery took Paul's own
olfactory mucosal cells (containing stem cells) and used them to repair the site
of his injury. While the surgery was costly, Paul participated in aggressive
physical training. He went through three weeks of physical therapy and is
starting to experience motor function in his muscles. Paul is determined that he will walk again.
Paul's next round of physical therapy is planned for early 2007. His friends and family have
already raised over $80,000 to pay for the surgery and initial therapy.
See cost analysis here.
We continue fundraising events, and thank you for your continued support!
